I love weddings. I especially love a good-looking weddings. Ones that set a tone from the minute your guests get your invite in the mail. When I got married in 2018, I swore, for once, I would pay someone else to design my invitation suite. That didn’t happen. I fell in love with design all over again during this process. Once it was over, I thought to myself, this would be a great thing to start once I retire from my day job. Then one morning I woke up and thought, why wait? So, I soft launched a penny more design studio.
Backing up: I graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a degree in Advertising and Graphic Design. I began my career working for award-winning, global advertising agencies in New York City and most recently creating branded content for ESPN. I'm a full-time boy mom to Gaetano + Giuseppe, a maternal mental health advocate, an amateur florist, and a decent moonwalker.
I fell in love with design at an unusually young age. I would design anything and everything in Microsoft Paint and code my own MySpace pages (the 90’s were really something special. You just had to be there).
The name, "a penny more" comes from a family sentiment my grandparents started back when my Poppy Al was in the Korean War. He and my Grams would write love letters to one another and sign off with "i love you 3 cents" meaning I love you with my mind, body, and soul (are we kidding?!) After some time, I added "…and a penny more" and it just stuck. One would say when you were around my Grams, you felt that she unselfishly gave everyone so much love. She loved you and then some...a penny more. She was my best friend, my maid of honor, and perhaps the reason a penny more design studio started. When I approach a new project I tend to think I give “a penny more” to your timeless designs. I so look forward to working with you.
